What you’ll do:

  • The primary function of the Procurement Technical Specialist is to be a source of technical expertise for the Supply Chain function and provide solutions to problems within key focused areas. They will support Supply Chain design for GBAD as the new project launches. As required, they will manage external vendor development projects (make to spec) and/or achieve robust transfer from product development into external production (make to print) in line with the business case. Overarching these activities, they will coordinate the procurement activities for a designated number of suppliers within the commodity group to deliver optimal operational performance and strategic alignment.

  • Assess and make recommendations for design, specification or process change(s)

  • Lead Supply Chain inputs into value engineering activities to ensure that the most cost effective, repeatable solution can be delivered to the required quality standard

  • Undertake sourcing/selection processes in line with policy for allocated work packages

  • For new packages, ensure that Supply Chain is fully engaged from RFQ through to contracting, including system requirements, PDR, CDR, FDR, TRR and PRR.

  • Manage critical paths within the work packages including internal/external dependencies, cross functional reviews and issue resolution

  • Manage the flow and POE of programme/engineering change for work packages being delivered

  • Maintain the implementation plan in the overall product IMS for the Supply Chain work package they are responsible for including all internal and external dependencies

  • Provide clear handover and strategy to Buyers in serial production.

  • Manage the end to end supply chain relationship with a specified group of vendors so as to ensure the best possible quality, cost, delivery and overall supplier reliability

  • Ensure that pricing and commercial terms remain updated for their allocated vendors

  • Undertake supplier relationship management tasking including QBRs, vendor development , RTG plans etc.

  • Apply SOF principles to build and manage effective supplier management processes and strong supplier relationships and partnerships

Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience working in a supply chain organization

Skills:

  • Demonstrable and sustained contributions to design of technology differentiated and market leading products and services

  • Excellent Supplier Relationship Management and negotiation skills

  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to manage challenging commercial relationships

  • Ability to practically demonstrate technical expertise and domain knowledge

  • Ability to deliver commercial benefit through product, system or supply chain design

  • Supply Chain or technical qualification preferred (MCIPs, BSc, BEng)
