Eaton Corporation Strategic Codes & Standards Engineer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania

Eaton’s Connected Solutions Group is currently seeking a Strategic Codes & Standards Engineer. This position can be based at our Electrical Sector HQ location in Moon Township, PA (Pittsburgh) or can be based remotely from a home office. Relocation assistance will be provided to Moon Township, PA for candidates currently residing within the US/PR.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $91500.03 - $134200.04 a year.

What you’ll do:

Eaton’s Connected Solutions Business is currently seeking a Codes & Standards Engineer to join our team. The Codes and Standards Engineer is responsible for supporting codes and standards initiatives, code adoption and developing strategic plans associated with the technology roadmap. Additionally, they will represent Eaton on technical committees for standards and provide technical training and representation of Eaton and constituent groups to which Eaton belongs.

The focus of this team is to build upon Eaton’s industry leading electronic breaker platform and integrate new vehicle to home components to launch affordable residential solutions. She/he will work with the broader Connected Solutions Organization to develop a certification strategy for current and future products, provides training to the team on new standards, and helps shape standards to support the industry by participating on standards committees

  • Develop standard/certification strategy for product roadmap

  • Identify standards that will have future impact on the technology roadmap

  • Train the design and product teams on relevant standards

  • Participate in standards committees

  • Build relationships with other codes & standards engineers in the industry

  • Lead relationship with UL inspectors associated with our projects, lead UL meetings, and review/track status of UL documentation

  • Keeps current on changing technologies and best practices. Focus on Power Electronics and electronic switching components and external partnerships with suppliers

  • Coordinates work with external development partners in specialized areas as needed

  • Travel approximately 25% (less for candidate located in Moon Township)

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical marketing/sales, product/project management, or engineering

  • Experience with developing or participating on panels for third party product standards

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Software, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution

  • Industry membership in electrical industry associations

  • Experience in the electrical industry and/or the construction industry

  • Experience with electrical building codes- NEC, ICC-IRC, NFPA, UL

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of systems design

  • Knowledge of circuit protection standards, testing and design desired, but not required.

  • Understands the market, regulatory influences, the competitive landscape and broader context of the business strategy

  • Ability to communicate programs to customer, peers, and Senior Management
