Eaton Corporation Lead Design & Logistics Engineer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania

Eaton’s Connected Solutions Organization is currently seeking a Lead Design & Logistics Engineer. This role is located out of Moon Township, PA.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $​​​​​​​52,500 - $77,000 a year.

The Lead Design and Logistics Engineer is a multifaceted role that combines creative design expertise with practical logistics management. Individual in this role will be part of a BU cross functional team, working on documentation, design work, and project logistics for release of new product development projects, product industrialization, and manufacturing plant cost out and maintenance projects. He/she masters the development and check of designs static or dynamic and creates design output which would include but not limited to modeling conceptual ideas, part drawings, part lists (BOM), assembly drawings, manufacturing instruction drawings or drawings for instruction manuals (publications), MEPs, wiring diagrams, schematics, application of Special Characteristics to drawings, PCB layouts, Labels, and other general specifications. Simultaneously, they take on logistics responsibilities, including initiating purchase orders (PO) for materials and equipment, coordinating shipping, and ensuring timely delivery, and project document managements, and update product documents in ENOVIA.

What you’ll do:

  • Prepares drawings with provided instructions defined by project team. Produces design layouts and documentation for the construction and testing of prototype models and evaluates designs for fits, tolerance stack, volume, etc., using CAD tools.

  • Create and interpret drawings and layout of raw materials, parts, assemblies, schematics, wiring diagrams, publications and specifications set by the manager of the area under the guidance of Marketing, Engineering and Manufacturing.

  • Initiate and manage purchase orders (PO) for prototype materials and equipment.

  • Coordinate the shipping and handling of prototypes and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate design and logistics considerations into project planning.

  • Responsible for the coordination of the Division projects, such as drawings scanning, updates in ENOVIA, management of documentation.

  • Realize changes and additions for existing drawings and diagrams, according to requirements.

  • Originates and develops creative conceptual mechanical and/or electrical design layouts, details, assemblies in a complete and accurate manner, providing design inputs.

  • Ensure quality compliance of design team in relation with drafting standards & procedures, thru monitoring. Support work distribution as required.

  • Execute the design activities with high technical skills and independent trial.

  • Ensure that all designs and materials are correct.

  • Perform PCBs modifications or new design with electrical designers.

  • Investigates all sources of information (marketing, standards, manufacturing, and engineering) that will aid in developing products that meet the needs of our customers.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate’s degree or two year degree in Engineering, a Technical field or a STEM field from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 2 years (or more) experience in engineered design & drafting work involving CAD tools.

  • No relocation is provided for this position, only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Moon Township, PA facility will be considered.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and within the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with custom engineering design and processes is desired.

  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt certified.

Skills:

  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

  • Knowledge in PLM software like SAP and Enovia

  • Knowledge of MS Office Applications, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, AutoCAD, Creo or Pro/E and PCB design software.

  • Fair knowledge of Eaton Electrical products and application of agency standards such as UL, NEMA, NEMA, IEC, CE, NEC, and DEMKO.

  • Demonstrate a collaborative style, drives for results, makes decisions / solves problems, promotes & champion change and pursues personal development.

  • Understanding of design evaluation techniques such as reliability analysis, statistical tolerance stack-up, Failure Mode and Effect analysis (FMEA), etc.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills and attention to detail.
