Eaton Corporation Senior Specialist, Advanced Algorithms Development in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin

Eaton’s CTO Corporate Technology Office division is currently seeking a Senior Specialist, Advanced Algorithms Development. This position offers relocation assistance. You must be willing to relocate to either Southfield Michigan or Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin Eaton locations for this role.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $128250.0 - $188100.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

As a Senior Specialist, Advanced Algorithms Developer. This is a unique opportunity to be a part of a transformational project developing artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) aided model-based systems engineering methods. The ultimate goal is to design innovative power electronics solutions through the development of advanced controls and optimization. The incumbent will be a part of a world-class research team including internal and external partners to deliver on research and commercialization projects jointly funded by Eaton and government research agencies.

In this role:

The main functions of the role are to plan and execute R&D projects, transition learnings to inform business and technology strategies, and create organizational capabilities necessary to achieve R&D and commercial goals with focus on Optimal and AI/ML aided control algorithm development in power electronics and related fields.

The role requires extensive knowledge in the classical control design space augmented by Optimal and/or AI/ML based control like Model Predictive Control and Reinforcement Learning etc. Provide leadership on complex assignments and projects and influence technology strategy in the field of AI/ML based controls.

Qualifications:

Basic REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • PhD in Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution.

  • 9+ years of experience in R&D or product design, with hands on experience in control systems development and testing in power electronics or related field

  • 9+ years of Model Based Systems Development experience for power electronics and/or control systems

  • 7 or more years of hands-on power electronics and/or control system algorithm development and testing experience

  • 2 or more years of hands-on experience in developing, testing and deployment of Reinforcement Learning based control algorithms

  • Must be willing to relocate to either Southfield MI or Menomonee Falls WI. Relocation assistance will be provided.

  • This position requires the use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).   • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America without sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree with a focus on ML/AI based control system development

  • Experience in control of electric machines, power converters and active front end applications

  • Experience in control system verification using Rapid-prototyping-platforms and Hardware-in-Loop systems

  • Experience in control system development using techniques such as state observers, Model Predictive Control, LQR, Reinforcement Learning etc.

  • Experience with power electronics Hardware/Software/Control algorithms integration

  • Experience in Python and open source tools for Machine/Deep Learning end-to-end workflows
