Eaton’s Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is currently seeking a Sustaining Engineer to join the team in Houston, TX.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $62250.03 - $95700.0 a year.

What you’ll do:

As Sustaining Engineer, you will support existing products and product requests that will penetrate the national and international markets, managing multiple projects in parallel with enabling rapid development of product designs to support customer requests. You will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with other business areas including Marketing, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality Control, and Operations. This role includes up to 10% travel. Day to day activities include:

  • Product Design – Mechanical engineering, solid modeling, and product design. Hands on testing of products, design validation, detail design, and drawing review. Develop and test prototypes for new product ideas. Maintain and upgrade existing products

  • Projects – Identify and execute cost out projects to drive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE). Effectively communicate across the project team and to their immediate managers.

  • Cross-Functional Teams – Support Supply Chain with specifications for purchase components. Support Operations teams with engineering documentation - drawing changes and design changes. Assist with 3rd party certifications. Create and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).

You possess strong organizational skills and a drive to grow both personally and professionally. A demonstrated use of problem-solving techniques (including 8D and 5 Why) and capability to drive innovation from request through the design process, identification of product changes; product support and improvement are highly valued. We are looking for candidates who are diverse in their backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences, and who can bring fresh and innovative ideas to our team.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution

  • Minimum two (2) years engineering experience with a preference in product design

  • Minimum one (1) year CAD or SolidWorks modeling experience and the ability to develop 3D models, assemblies, etc.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates who currently reside within 50 miles of Houston, TX will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP experience

  • Experience in LED Lighting design

  • Knowledge of DFMA/DFSS and broad knowledge of manufacturing processes
