Eaton Corporation Specialist Engineer - MSD in Hadapsar, India

What you’ll do:

"Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) has an opening for a Specialist engineer, in the Mission Systems Division (MSD) within the Aerospace Business Unit. This position will be based in Pune, India and will be leading the design, development and launch of Eaton’s actuation products for the division.

The Specialist engineer is primarily responsible for providing technical leadership and ensuring robust engineering design for actuation products. Further, the individual is expected to:

(1) Provide technical oversight to the team that designs and develops actuators for Aerospace, Military & Space end markets;

(2) Understand customer needs, identify key technology trends and execute on new product opportunities for the business;

(3) Define technical requirements and specifications for actuation products;

(4) Lead technical collaboration for actuator products globally, working with other design centers in North America. "

"The position requires incumbent to be highly proficient in engineering skills, project management and documentation with ability to manage multiple projects in parallel. Further, he/she

• Provides technical leadership & coaching to the team to execute projects and recommend/make key engineering decisions.

• Champions design reviews for the projects in the group and be the work package approver internally.

• Leads multiple business critical projects in collaboration with multi-functional teams to drive new product development.

• Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of field returns and warranty issues on products to support sustaining engineering

• Research, assess, and adapt new technologies necessary for the ongoing evolution of our products

• Monitor, support and participate in industry standards and governmental agencies as required.

• Verifies completed drawings, reports, and change orders for completeness and conformity to standards, procedures and specifications. Verify accuracy of calculations, dimensioning and tolerancing

• Leads innovation summits and design bursts for the group, to generate ideas and convert them to tangible solutions.

• Deploys DFSS concepts/tools such as RMSC, PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVPR to ensure quality & consistency on engineering tasks

• Creates 3D models, drawings, reports, ECRs/ECOs and BOMs, Tooling designs, Test fixture designs, Test plans and reports for new product designs and modification of existing drawings and models.

• Sustains process for design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documents and data control for the associated business group

• Drives PRO-Launch execution of programs with work package approvals, engineering management plan and attaining all engineering deliverables per activity matrix"

Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial/Electrical/Systems Engineering from an accredited institution. Masters is preferred.

15+ years of progressive hands-on experience in design, development and launch of products with demonstrated project leadership. Relevant exposure to aerospace product lifecycle is an added advantage.

Skills:

• Proven track record of launching products with expertise leading product development through from ideation stage to commercialization. Domain knowledge in aerospace products such as actuators, motors, motor controls will be preferred

• Experience in industry standards (like IEC, UL, MIL, SAE) related to industrial products

• Innovation mindset demonstrated through patents and new technology introduction experience

• Demonstrating high ambition, drive for results, enthusiasm and strong practical engineering experience to compliment his/her technical ability.

• Abreast of upcoming industry and trends, with ability to propose and champion technology roadmaps

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical people

• Strong problem solving and reasoning ability, with critical thinking and proven design skills"

"• Application knowledge of mechanical design principles -

• Innovative mechanical design skills including but not limited to frequent use of 2D and 3D CAD (Creo and/or SolidWorks) modeling and Model Based Definition, and GD&T

• Ability to read and understand Drawings, Specifications, and Requirements

• General knowledge of industry specifications (IEC, UL, MIL etc) will be preferred.

• Extensive product design experience including Design analysis (FEA, CFD), tolerance studies, GD&T etc

• Design for manufacturibility (for eg., castings etc) & Design for ease of assembly, serviceablility (non-metallic materials - gaskets, sealants, coatings etc)

• Prior experience in launching products with focus on design for low cost is preferred

• Experience with CAD (Solidworks, Autocad, Creo ProE) and PLM tools (SAP, Enovia, Windchill)

• Design for manufacturibility with extensive experience in metal castings, machining, molding etc

• Design for ease of assembly, serviceablility with some expertise in non-metallic materials - gaskets, sealants, coatings

• Strong problem solving, strategic agility & superior decision making should have been demonstrated at multiple points in career."

Ability to lead and be accountable for a project team of 3-4 individuals.

Ability to work across site boundaries in a global virtual engineering organization.

Ability to network and develop relationships with other Eaton Aerospace and non-Aerospace resources.
