Eaton Corporation Associate Product Line Application Engineer in Greenwood, South Carolina

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking an Associate Product Line Application Engineer. This is a hybrid position that will be based out of Greenwood, SC.

The Associate Product Line Application Engineer will provide a broad range of engineering services to directly support Eaton’s Medium Voltage Switchgear Product Line’s new product development and introduction, marketing, and sales functions; actively seek out opportunities to grow and develop subject matter expertise with a focus on MVA and MVS product offerings and applications; foster thought-leadership, innovation, and codes and standards influence within the MV Product Line and PDCA division; create complex engineering documentation, provide innovative solutions, and deliver trainings for a range of internal cross-functional teams and external customers or industry personnel; coordinate with front-end engineering teams and operations functions to facilitate on-time shipment of critical customer orders. You will provide technical guidance for DSE, field sales and district AE community for complex and value engineered solutions.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $80250.03 - $117700.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

  • Respond to technical questions and requests for technical information and specifications from customers in a timely manner to support marketing and sales activities.

  • Provide product knowledge and engineering expertise to facilitate continuous improvement regarding internal systems efficiency and accuracy, training and reference content, and product applications with an increasing level of independence and responsibility.

  • Support internal and field sales activities through the co-development and effective delivery of technical information and tools to enhance sales performance.

  • Visit with and provide effective trainings to customers on technical and application-based topics related to a wide array of new and existing MV switchgear product offerings.

  • Interpret customer product specifications and drawing requirements and offer innovative and value engineered product solutions.

  • Contribute to the preparation of effective quotations and related negotiation documentation for critical product configurations with increasing levels of complexity.

  • Provide a broad range of engineering expertise to assist in the resolution of complex customer issues.

  • Build a strong knowledge and understanding of product engineering technologies, competitor capabilities and practices, market conditions, and market channels.

  • Provide an extensive range of engineering guidance and technical support to a range of cross-functional teams as required to support plant initiatives and meet customer needs.

  • Apply product knowledge and develop within the role by supporting engineering technical projects, product development and industrialization activities, engineering design standards, other industry codes, product roadmapping events, and marketing/VOC initiatives.

  • Foster thought-leadership and technical marketing excellence within the industry by contributing to white papers, articles and case studies for publication and presentation at industry related conferences.

  • Establish a position as an active member of IEEE and attend PES Switchgear Assemblies Committee meetings bi-annually.

  • Support activities related to the execution of special or critical product or component certification and conformance projects as assigned.

  • Support third party regulatory product certification activities and onsite evaluations associated with specific customer orders and critical projects.

  • Work effectively with cross-functional teams to support plant EBS pull team goals.

  • Create effective content and lead or support internal and external trainings.

  • Support customer and internal team visits to plant as needed.

  • Support creation and maintenance of product related technical and marketing collateral.

  • Lead or support technical meetings and projects for major customer accounts.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.

  • 5-7 years of experience in engineering within the Power Systems Design or Electrical Distribution/Protection Equipment Manufacturing or Technology field.

  • Authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Prior direct experience and subject matter expertise on Medium Voltage Switchgear Assemblies product line(s).

  • Strategic and innovative thinker.

  • Eagerness for continuous learning and progression within the application engineering function.

  • General knowledge of customer channels, market dynamics, negotiation techniques and competitive landscape as it relates to medium voltage switchgear products.

  • Working understanding of technical applications, value-based engineering/solution selling, and design thinking.

  • Product application knowledge, customer interface, and the ability to contribute to the execution of tactical and strategic plans to support the product line’s goals.

  • Ability to generate effective customer-facing and internal technical presentations and present/train both internally and externally across wide range of audiences.

  • Strong teamwork skills.

  • Working knowledge or switchgear codes and standards.

  • Ability to adapt and pivot as priorities change.

  • Ability to work independently and innovatively to meet the overall goals of the product line.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Skills in utilization of digital tools and systems.
