Eaton Corporation Government Funding Compliance Manager - finance in Bonn, Germany

Eaton is looking a EMEA Government Financial Compliance Manager – EU & Government funding

Location: Eaton European Innovation Center in Prague, Czech Republic or Bonn, Germany.

Primary function:

  • The EMEA Government Compliance Manager will serve as Eaton European Innovation Center's (EEIC) Government financial and contract compliance subject matter expert.

  • This role's primary responsibility is ensuring compliance with European public funding and contract requirements.

  • It is also responsible for reviewing proposals for research and development projects, cost reporting submissions, and labor time reporting records, project budget utilization, and prototype accounting.

  • This role will also advise key stakeholders on the advanced application of accounting principles, manage relationships with consortium partners, coordinate with external government auditors, and manage legal entity registrations for European Union projects.

  • The ideal candidate must have a very strong understanding of financial compliance preferably (EMEA funded grants, budget management, and EU Competition Law).

Job responsibilities:

  • Review and approve Eaton European Innovation Center's (EEIC) and other R&D Site's cost reporting submissions for publicly funded research and development (R&D) projects, monitor and minimize double funding risks, ensure correct allocation of intercompany expenses, ensure compliant labor timekeeping.

  • Timely review EEIC and other R&D Site project proposals for public grant R&D awards, assist program managers to review project costs from program eligibility perspective, assess IP risks by involving IP Counsel if necessary.

  • Act as the Legal Entity Representative for EU Eaton affiliates participating in EU Horizon Europe projects.

  • Ensure compliance with grant award contracts, lead negotiations of consortium agreements with project partners, collaborate with cross-function stake holders such as IP counsel, internal legal team, finance controllers, and engineers to protect EEIC's interests.

  • Train EEIC and R&D engineering teams and supporting personnel on proper timekeeping, contract and EU public tendering rules, intellectual property rights, post-project ownership arrangements, publication rights and deadlines.

  • Own and coordinate any external audits executed by funding agencies, ensure proper measures are implemented based on any audit findings or recommendations.

  • Responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams to develop and implement annual Global Contracts Compliance initiatives and developing organizational solutions to audit trends. Support Internal Audit's annual audit plan by assisting in the development of the scope of specific audits and occasionally serving as a guest auditor as needed.

  • Consistently display a strong desire and ability to develop and implement tools and automation to increase the speed and simplicity of processes.

We would like you to bring:

  • B.A. or Master’s degree in finance or relevant subjects

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial field

  • Knowledge of Czech GAAP required

  • Experience with European research funding strongly preferred

  • Basic Intellectual Property awareness

  • Czech and English language skills (for the option located in Bonn fluent German required)
